Medical freedom and bodily autonomy

Litigation over bodily autonomy, medical mandates, and Title VII religious accommodations, including Ringhofer v. Mayo Clinic.

Thank you. This was a victory.

Attorney Greg Erickson, Five Stones legal counsel, challenged employment terminations tied to mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policies under Title VII. Ringhofer v. Mayo Clinic in the Eighth Circuit was the first appellate victory on the subject. Seventh Circuit rulings reinforced the point. The litigation reversed dismissals and addressed protections for religious objections to workplace mandates.

The project supports litigation on bodily autonomy and medical freedom: decisions about one’s body and healthcare without coercion or government mandates. Full FDA approval is different from emergency-use authorization. The emergency-use statute, 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(e)(1)(A)(ii)(III), requires informing people of the option to accept or refuse a product, the consequences of refusal, and alternatives. Employer mandates can be challenged under the Americans with Disabilities Act and under Title VII’s religious-exemption rules.
